Bella is missing...

we haven't seen her for a few days so maybe she has gone off to have the babies! In case she has hidden herself I made up flyers and the twins and I put them in letter boxes up and down the street and in the street behind our house. I printed them out on bright paper and put a photo of Bella on them.
Here is what they said

Lost Cat!

Have you seen Bella? She is a small black cat with yellow eyes and a HUGE belly. She is due to have kittens soon and we are very worried about her.
Could you please check your garage or shed in case she is shut in?

If you have seen her please let us know on

62******

Thank You

The L**** Family
52 ***** Street

PS There is no reward but you are welcome to a kitten in about 7 weeks time!

While we were handing them out a woman came over and told me she had seen a dead black cat on the highway on Monday afternoon... I felt sick and was too scared to go and look but I had to know if it was Bella. I drove along and I saw a small black body on the side of the parking area, I parked as far away as I could and told the twins to stay in the car. I went over there feeling awful, I am hopeless with blood so thankfully there wasn't any, just a cat that I didn't think was Bella, I couldn't be sure though so I asked Peter to take a look on his way home.

He had a good look and even turned the body over to make sure it wasn't Bella.

My hero! There was no way I could do that! He gets rid of spiders and bird bodies too!

We haven't heard anything yet so fingers crossed please! We miss our sweetie...

If you see these anywhere...they are mine...

apparently I am losing them rapidly! Last week I forgot our wedding anniversary which was bad enough really then today as I made a flyer about Bella being missing (more on that later) I quite happily put our address as number 52 and printed off 60 copies. I emailed one to Peter and he shot back an email that just said

"Lovely darling but I think you will find we live at number 53"

Oh good gravy... that is scary indeed. I mean to say we haven't just moved in or anything we have been here for over 3 years! In my defence, my previous address was number 252 but it was a while ago now. Sigh... I may have to invest in some memory tricks or else start writing my name and address on my hand in case I forget!

Happy non-Anniversary!

So last Wednesday was our second wedding anniversary, last year Peter sent me gorgeous flowers to work and we went out to dinner. This year guess who totally forgot the anniversary?

BOTH of us did! oh wow I cannot believe that we both forgot! I remembered this morning (5 days late) when I got to work, no idea what triggered it but I just thought "oh crap!" Peter didn't remember at all until I sent him an email!

Totally hopeless the pair of us... sigh...

Mind you it would have been horrible if one remembered and the other forgot, most upsetting!

We are having 4 days in Melbourne from November 13th, we are going to see 2 concerts and staying in a really swish hotel, that will make up for the non anniversary I hope! I am really looking forward to this trip, we haven't been away together for ages and the last time we went to Melbourne we took all the kids. The first concert is going to be amazing, we love this violinist and the concert promises to be spectacular!

The Dutch musician is responsible for around 500 people including his 55-strong Johann Strauss Orchestra and the Vienna State Ballet, which travels with him too. There will also be 60 figure skaters performing on two ice rinks in front of the castle. There will be working fountains, and 36 horses will pull carriages on and off the stage.

I am so excited! Totally better than a bunch of flowers!

I am going to be a grandma!

Well it feels like it.. Marnis cat is having Kittens! Marni is very excited, I am just wishing we had he spayed when we were going too! Isaac and Keely have already picked out names for "their" kittens... ummm no one said we were keeping them guys! Anyway they obviously think the kittens will be black like their mother because the names they have picked out are Vegemite and Licorice. Very cute!

Work Work Work

That is all I seem to do lately, usually I work .5 of full time, so 18 hours a week. I find that quite manageable with kids, home and work making up a pretty good balance. I work in a team of 5 and the other 4 work full-time, it is a good arrangement, we have busy days and not so busy days but lately we have had really busy days and 2 of the team are on sick leave for at least the next 2 weeks! UGH! I have no idea how mothers who work full time do it, I am grumpy, tired and not much fun lately. I promised myself I would take the twins to the show and we had all been really looking forward to it for weeks. I have been working my days off for a couple of weeks and didn't know if I could take the time to go. My boss was great and said no problem so Wednesday was THE day.
Of course because I had planned to take the kids to the show the forecast was terrible, rain and even SNOW (in spring!) on the mountain! I went to work in the morning and then picked the twins up from school at lunch time and off we went to the Royal Hobart Show. It was heaps of fun picking them up early we all felt like we were doing something really naughty! Going to the show is not for the fainthearted or the poor, it cost $40 just to park the car and get in the gate!!! Luckily the twins had saved money each so the damage to my wallet wasn't that bad. We got the showbags first because last year they had sold the days quota of the ones we wanted and we had to spend ages re-choosing!

We looked at all the animals in the nursery including the sweetest 3 day old minature foal awww
C U T E! There was a Tassie Devil display with a 6 month old baby devil, not-so-cute and lots of lambs, piglets and ducklings. Luckily we didn't bring any home to add to the menagerie! Isaac tried rock climbing and then I was very brave and went on the Ferris Wheel (I totally HATE those things!) Isaac drove the dodgem car and had a fabulous time, he was an amazingly good driver which was a relief because I don't like those either! We had a few turns on some games and got really tacky crap for prizes... Keely ended the day with a purple teddy bear, a white tiger and a neon orange porcupine so now she has 3000 stuffed toys in her room! We ate a delicious devonshire tea at the CWA hall, bless you ladies you are fabulous, and then bought some blue fairy floss to take home, gross!
All in all a terrific time was had and 2 of us had plenty of energy left to carry on like weirdos all the way home, maybe I should have had some of the blue fairy floss, I sure could have used the energy boost!

Crafty me...

I am loving my christmas project (s).
I have done cross stitch and other crafty things before but nothing like these. I am not creative in a start from scratch kind of a way, but I have a good eye for colour and patterns and I can copy like nobodys business! I tend to be indecisive though so I could never do scrapping, I would sit for hours admiring all the pretty things then never start much or finish anything at all!
I bought this gorgeous christmas panel and have being blinging it up with sequins and beads. It is looking fabulous and I can't wait to finish it, the trouble is it is HUGE, seriously it is as large as a door! I have no idea where I will hang it when it is finished but I am leaning toward the front hallway with a spotlight on it, maybe even a red velvet rope barrier like at the museum as well!
One of the nicest craft shops here is closing down and I have accidently gone in there twice recently and now have this panel to do as well... Laura don't look this may well be part of your christmas present!

Isn't this gorgeous? I love the colours and the cute santas... The backing fabric is red with the bells on, so, so beautiful!
At least this one is smaller, about the size of a large cushion.
I hope this isn't against some rule but I cheated and didn't take these pics, I found the panels on ebay and copied the pics! Bad me but my camera is all the way o v e r there and I am way too lazy to get it, take photos and then upload them.
I really hope I finish these projects (I am a little scared of the sewing it up part!) I am pretty determined to see them through because otherwise I have a feeling I may become a fabric tragic, with cupboards full of fantastic pieces that I will never ever use. A friend of mine who was very into fabric had a sign in her craft room that said
"she who dies with the most fabric, wins!"
Now I know what she meant by it :)

Blog mania...

I had a kid free weekend, well actually it was 73 hours (not that I counted at all...) so I made a list of all the industrious things I would be doing, I had visions of scrubbing and tidying out cupboards, I was most definetly going to get my sewing machine working again for those crafty projects I was going to start. I was going to finish fixing the paint trim in Keelys room from when Marni and Laura painted it (badly). Then I would perhaps settle down with a book or three.
Well something went slightly askew.. I turned on the laptop, "just for a minute" ahem well I was still there 3 hours later! I found these wonderful wonderful and inspiring blogs and well I NEEDED to read as much as possible of the stories being told.
I laughed and I cried along with the stories, enjoyed the photos and gained some much needed perspective into my own life.
I did manage to do the painting and read 2 books (lol) but all the rest is still waiting for me to be inspired, not likely this week, maybe next week!!

Ruby lives (again)!

Yes, she is once again working fine... phew! Thank you to Simon at Dick Smith wh was very patient and kind to me (I promise I wasn't rude but was panicking slightly at the thought of being laptopless again). Apparently the smoke was from a teeny piece of plastic that melted because the doohicky thing was bent and pressing on the whatsittybob (apologies for the technospeak). A slight adjustment and voila Ruby was back and with all the important stuff intact too! I then saved myself the $130 (gulp) that a new power pack was going to cost by going without Ruby another 3 days and got the guy who originally fixed the plug to replace the one that melted, which he did and didn't charge me for! YEAH!!! I totally wish I had the $130 to blow on the cord so I could go spend it on something else but I don't, it was earmarked for my new, desperatly needed glasses so phew I can still get them when they are ready.

Speaking (blogging?) of which I have decided that I detest needing to wear glasses, it is a pain, annoying, inconvenient and just plain sucky. Now I have worn them for (here I go sounding like Granny from Tweety bird) 33 years... good grief, I added that up twice to make sure and yep it's true. Please don't post telling me you weren't born when I got my first pair, I do not need the reminder! My eyes are pretty awful, in fact I am legally blind without my glasses and cannot function without them. I wear then from before I get up until after I get into bed, I would wear them in the shower if I could, although then I would actually SEE the nasty bits that need cleaning! :) I have had some scary moments when I haven't been able to find them, I go into a full blown panic and let me tell you I need my glasses to find my glasses so it can take a while to locate them! All my kiddos knew at a very early age that mummys glasses were not to be played with EVER, so they never did, putting little smeary fingerprints on them is another story though ugh! I wore contacts for years and loved them, I stopped wearing them a long time ago though I can't remember why. So I went to have my eyes tested and found they have deteriorated quite a bit, well DOH thats why I came in! Playing eye spy sucks when you can't even see the sign the smarty pants 7 year olds word is on! So my lovely Optician gave me some tester contacts to use so I could pick new frames (another thing that sucks is trying to pick new frames when to see what they look like, your nose literally has to be 2 inches from the mirror) what a great idea, I have picked a frame but have to go back to see it in the colour I chose before I order them. I tried very hard to stay away from the designer frame rack as my poor wallet doesn't run to such things, they were pretty gorgeous though!

I had a new haircut yesterday so I dare say I will be pretty spiffy when the new specs get here!

Fried Laptop anyone?

My lovely Ruby is no more, I took her to get a new power pack today and something went horrible wrong! The assistant did everything she was supposed to (well I am not a geeky person but I am sure she did) but when she plugged in the new cord the little green light didn't come on and then smoke started to come out of the computer! I was so shocked I didn't actually say anything at all! (a miracle ) The manager came over and took a look and then asked for my details to call me later, he did call back and said Ruby is off to Sydney (I think) for the technicians to look at, I was pretty upset but was very nice to him until he said he thought there was something wrong with the computer and that his staff member didn't do anything wrong!
Umm ok why would I take a broken computer that is still under warranty to their shop and buy a new power pack?
So hopefully it will be looked at fast and they will see that it was a fault with the new power pack (I am guessing wrong voltage) and we can come to some arrangement where they fix Ruby and get her back to me ASAP!
UGGGGHHHH!! I am so pissed off... :(

Wednesday Wonders again...

I thought I should do another wonders post... I love Wednesdays, it is my day off, payday and Spicks and Specks is on tonight!
This week my top wonders are

1/ apples
Today when the twins came home they wanted biscuits but I said no, have an apple, their faces lit up and they RAN to the kitchen to get one each! Can you tell we hadn't had any apples for a few days?

2/ Milo

I am having trouble filling the tummies up lately, they must be having growth spurts, so when I have given them everything I can think of, a warm Milo is the answer!

3/Warmer weather

Yay! I detest wearing shoes so with the warm weather comes 3/4 pants and sandals or thongs Yippeeeeeeee!!

4/ Flair

I spend quite a lot of time on facebook looking at Flair, try it you will love it! This is my current favorite.

5/ New books

Is there any better feeling than holding a brand new book in your hand... sigh I rarely buy myself new books but last week I bought TWO! I felt very self indulgent! I had been admiring their lovely newness on the shelf until last night when I could resist them no longer! I have now finished one and started on the other, pure bliss!

Thats it for this week!
