nostalgia...

ahhh I am watching the second season of The Waltons and loving it. I remember watching it every week in the 70's and wanting to be a part of their wonderful family. I may have had a teeny crush on Jason for a while but he was a goody goody so then it was Ben, I was willing to overlook his red hair because he had a gleam in his eye. I still pine for a Waltons house, I would love a big old farmhouse with a porch, of course I would need Grandma and Olivia to cook and clean for me :)
I also wanted to be in the Partridge Family and the Brady Bunch perhaps thats why I have so many children, I did name Laura after Laura Ingalls but I drew the line at Jim Bob!

Tonight I am looking forward to sitting back with a glass of the recipe (wine) and being taken back to Waltons Mountain na na na naa naaa naaaa

Melbourne here we come!

Yes it's true, in a moment of madness we decided a week in Melbourne with ALL the kids would be a good idea! We are going to the Zoo and the Science museum thingy place (so organised as you can see) and probably the aquarium. Blair has volunteered to take Isaac to see his Geelong Cats play on Friday night, bless her. It was more than I could cope with to be in such a huge crowd, mind you they are playing the Kangaroos so I hope they don't win!

Hopefully Mikki (stepdaughter) will actually get on the plane as she is apparently terrified of flying... eeeek!

I am sure we will all manage to get there in one piece.
My mother decided we needed her to house and cat-sit so I should really be frantically cleaning my rather "lived in" house instead of writing about it!

Hiking in Antartica

Isaac and Keely have just marched into the lounge room wearing coats and huge backpacks and singing "we'll be coming down the mountain" OMG funniest kids ever!

Apparently cleaning their rooms got a wee bit boring and an adventure was in order!

Keely is sitting here reading this as I am writing it, whoohoooooooo my baby can read!
Yeah Keely!

Lyrics by Isaac

We'll be comin' down the mountain when we come YEE HAW
We'll be comin' down the mountain when we come Hi Babe
repeat endlessly

Update on Bella

Well the lump turned out to be an abcess which burst, very icky! Poor baby was miserable until the antibiotics kicked in. She is sporting a very funny haircut to make things even worse. She is being spoiled rotten while she recovers, funny how she takes it as her due. She is the sweetest cat with quite the personality... we are all in love with her especially me. Peter calls her the supervisor because she oversees everything he does outside right down to inspecting the plants he has just planted , she helps "water" them too. :)

Soccer photos

Here are my dynamic duo! The second game of the season was a grudge match (just kidding) against the other team from our school, some highlights included Isaac kicking a goal for the red team and Keelys friend Taylah tying Keelys boot for her midway through the game... very sportspersonlike especially since they are on different teams!

I seriously think the spectators had more fun than the kids.. :)
In the pic with Isaac is Liam, my nephew.
The team is fron L-R back row

Bellatrix aka the black ninja

Something is wrong with Bella our sweet kiten, she disappeared for a day or so and when she reappeared she was frightened, well terrified and very very quiet. Peter said he had seen her hiding under the couch and we finally got her out, she has a lump on her back but apart from that she is almost back to normal. Pete thinks our other cat has hurt her and maybe she did, Tabitha is a huge 6 kilo cat and Bella is teeny... Lately Tab has been lying in wait for Belle and bailing her up in rooms so she can't move around the house. Today she is better but still skittish, I will take her to the vet tomorrow but tonight she is snuggled in my lap.

Keely and Isaac Beckham

Soccer season started last week and they had a great game with Isaac scoring a blinding goal by dribbling 3/4 of the way down the pitch and booting it in! Yay! The crowd went wild, well his mother did and the other parents to a lesser extent because goals are still a rarity for Howrah Under 7 White! Keely played a great game in defense actually getting in and contesting the ball something she does really well in practice but not in actual games before! I have some great pics I will add over the weekend!

whacky co-workers

We have 2 new people in our team, lets call them Betty and Veronica.
Veronica is 50-60 and a loud, know-it-all-but-really-knows-nothing type who also excels at been there, done that, better than you and for cheaper routines.
V I can just about handle until she starts explaining to me how to do the job I have been doing for 3 years, you know the same job she has been doing for 5 weeks, that makes me crazy.
Betty is 20-25 and a very sweet girl. I have driven her home several times and had some good conversations with her. She is a similar age to my daughter and knows some of the same people.
Our team leader arranged to take us out for dinner as a team building exercise, she decided to make it a mystery destination. We were all fine with that and suspected it was going to be a Chinese restaurant, Veronica loudly declares "I don't eat asian food" and Betty says she has never eaten it. Okaaaaay, boss says its ok the place she has in mind caters for everyone and it should be fine. So last night we go to dinner and it starts well enough, we order a banquet as V decides she may be able to eat a little of what is on the menu we choose, she also gives a lecture about wine and why the bottle she chose was better than everyone elses choices... sigh I obviously did something bad in a past life because she sits next to me!

During the evening she takes over every conversation, talk over the top of everyone else and then make comments about the amount I am eating! I grit my teeeth and try to tune her out.
Meanwhile B makes a comment about never having had banana fritters and wondered what they were like, I asked her if she likes bananas and she gets a strange look on her face and says you are going to think I am weird but I have never eaten a banana, umm ok NEVER?? Nope, she went on to say that the reason she has never eaten a banan is because they are a funny shape!!!! wtf? She tells us that she was a very picky kid and had weird food issues, so we ask like what?
This is where it gets bizarre, when asked what she doesn't eat she says it will be faster to tell us what she does eat!

This girl is 22 and eats mainly the following, Rice, Pasta, Chicken breast, raw broccoli and frozen peas. She doesn't eat any dairy, bread, meat or fish or chicken that MIGHT have a bone in it! She doesnt eat fruit or any other veggies except hot chips, she shuddered when I asked about gravy or sauce on those chips, salad is a no-no as is any margarine or spread. That came up because I told her if she came to my house I would give her a vegemite sandwich.. "err about that I don't eat bread, butter or vegemite either"!! I can't remember the vast list of things she has an aversion too but has never even tried, I am the closest in age to her and old enough to be her mother so a table full of mums couldn't believe she had never even tried them. We did poke fun at her to start with and now I feel bad that she may be regretting sharing her issues with us.

We did say that she would have starved to death at our houses as our kids were made to at least taste new things lol
At least she made V shut up for a while!

Random stuff

Hmm trying out this blog thingy, oohh I like this font, Lucinda something... I wonder how I can change the size? ahahh found it but too big is not good, I think I will stick to normal. spotted the colour doodad straight for the purple, I am so predictable! A bit darker, nope, maybe this, ewww ok back to dark.
Hmm I have just realised I blog like I am writing a text message or an email, have I forgotten the little linking words that help writing to flow? eeps I hope not. Note to self stop trying to type fast and instead think about what I want to say... very deep thoughts for my first blog entry.
Well now I have the right colour, so very important, and the right size I have to think about what to write.
I decided to call my blog life in the slow lane because my life is pretty slow and unexciting, nothing at all wrong with that because I LOVE it. I have had way to much drama and chaos so a quiet life is wonderful. Oh and because I couldn't think of anything else.
